Prof. Dr. Panayotis G. Michaelides is a Full Professor of Economics and Econometrics, and Director of the Laboratory of Theoretical and Applied Economics and Law (TAEL), at the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences, at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). According to IDEAS (2022), he ranks among the most productive (≈top 3%) and downloaded (≈top 10%) authors in the world, among the best economists of the last decade (≈top 8%), and has received the prestigious Highly Commended Paper Award for Excellence by Emerald. Panayotis has also acted as Research Fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE), Systemic Risk Centre, where he was awarded a prestigious individual Marie Slodowska Curie Fellowship, as well as Visiting Professor at the Alpen Adria University of Klagenfurt, Austria. 

Prof. Dr. Michaelides has led international research and technology teams, and has participated in various projects in leading roles, such as Expert Consultant, Scientific Advisor, Principal Investigator, and Senior Researcher. He uses Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, complemented by Data Analysis and Econometrics to study the complexity of the Economic and Financial Systems.

In total, Prof. Dr. Michaelides has authored over 250 articles, published or forthcoming, in a number of top-ranked outlets or appearing in working paper series, lecture notes, international conferences or edited volumes. He has published numerous articles in Journals indexed in the ABS and CNRS lists, among which several 4* and 3* Journals (ABS list), and Categorie 1 and 2 Journals (CNRS list), respectively. Also, he has authored several articles in scholarly Journals with Impact Factor (IF) indexed in the Journal Citation Reports released by Thomson Reuters (ISI). Furthermore, several of his articles are published in Journals indexed in the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Australian Mathematical Society (Rank A) Journal lists. 

His published work also includes approximately 100 Conference Papers (e.g. University of Cambridge, Université de Paris-Sorbonne, IEEE), several Working Papers (e.g. European Regional Science Association), Lecture Notes (e.g. Springer) and Edited Volumes (e.g. Palgrave). In addition, he has been invited, several times, in the capacity as Panel Expert (e.g. CESifo, Munich) or Session Chair (e.g. Business Cycles, DIW, Berlin).

He has received several scholarships for academic excellence (e.g. National Technical University, State Scholarship Foundation, European Commission, etc), has attracted funding from various sources and has participated in over 15 competitively funded international Research Projects with a leading role, such as Principal Investigator, including two (2) Horizon-2020 research programmes, and one (1) Individual Marie Slodowska Curie Fellowship. 

Panayotis teaches/has taught, among other courses, Econometrics, Applied Econometrics, Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International Economics, Economics of Technology, Business Economics, Business Cycles, Business Administration, Political Economy, and History of Economic Thought. 

He has mentored several young scientists, engineers and economists, who currently hold positions in industry and academia. Actually, he has some of the best students in the world (≈top 5%), according to IDEAS (2020). Also, he has received the Best Reviewer Award by Emerald and has refereed numerous papers for over thirty (30) scholarly Journals.

Prof. Dr. Michaelides holds a 5-year MEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NTUA), three (3) MSc Degrees (MSc Mathematics, MSc Economics, MBA), one (1) PhD, and two (2) Post-Doctorate Degrees. He speaks English (Certificate of Proficiency, University of Cambridge), French (Universite de Paris, Sorbonne), German (Zerifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache, Goethe Institut), and Greek (native speaker).
